Pro-Stretch uses innovative sustainable product manufacturing to help maintain the world we live in.
Here at Pro-Stretch we really care about our environment, and we understand how every action we do has a consequence.
That is why Pro-Stretch Trims International are ambassadors for sustainable manufacturing* and why we are working hard to promote our greener, more sustainable products.
With the growing concerns for manufacturers global carbon footprints, we all need to make a conscious effort to change the way we take our businesses forward. Through working together we can all really make a difference to the future of our planet.
We carefully choose customers who are embracing this, many we are proud to say are amongst the top sports and leisurewear retailers in the world. These include brands who incorporate sustainability within their own models, which in turn helps encourage the consumer to buy their products.
So how are Pro-Stretch helping the planet?
Starting right at the source of a products life cycle we endeavour to reduce our Carbon footprint. We reduce the processes and workforce behind the creation of our products. We offer a careful approach to product development and manufacture, sourcing sustainable materials for our tapes and elastics, including Recycled Polyester, Recycled Spun Polyester, Recycled Nylon, BCI Cotton (Better Cotton Initiative*) and Organic Cotton. We have also recently started to work with recycled Spandex, which we will increase production over the next few months: thus reducing carbon emissions. Of course we still ensure this meets with the high standard and quality our customers expect from us.
Other natural materials we are now sourcing include Cork, Hemp, and Sorona yarns.
Lets follow the journey of a Pro-Stretch trim;
Firstly, the team work with our customers development teams to decide on a suitable design for their requirements. With many of our customers needing specific requirements, that require precise artwork and manufacture, this can be a lengthy but positive process.
“We begin by sourcing natural, suitable, sustainable materials, that not only help the planet and environment but also create a superb quality product for our customers; many we are proud to say are amongst the top sports and leisurewear manufacturers in the world, and include brands who are incorporating sustainability within their own models”
Christine Morgan CEO
Working alongside our factories in Southern China, and recently opened factory in Vietnam (which we are very excited about); we ensure we have safe working environments and promote fair wages for all employees. We then create a product design sample for our customer, this could be anything from an elastic trim, to draw cords and labels, or even a stretch trim using our patented Mechanical Stretch system.
With so many possibilities the choice is endless.
Did you know that Pro-Stretch Ltd use innovative patented technology?
Our patented mechanical S-T-R-E-T-C-H innovation enables rigid tapes and/or labels to be permanently converted into mechanical stretch products WITHOUT USING CHEMICALS OR LYCRA. Using 100% Polyester and Polyester/Cotton mixes.
This process removes all shrinkage whilst giving 5%-12% stretch. This eliminates puckering and is applied to the garment using the same method as a traditional rigid tape.
Also, our ground-breaking Super Stretch tape has approximately 20% stretch which is only slightly less than an elastic quality but without the shrinkage.
This can be used for various products where a more elastic product is required.
We work to tight deadlines, so as soon as we receive the sample back from our factories, usually within 10-14 days, it is then presented to the customer for quality and colour approval. It is then sent for lab testing for its suitability, this can vary due to the diverse use of the different garment requirements.
As soon as the product is approved by our customer, which can sometimes be a lengthy process if the design is complex, or the colour needs to match a specific palette. We then go into bulk production, with a turn-around time of between 21-28 days, depending on the product and volume required.
The product is then shipped directly to our very satisfied customers all over the world.
“Satisfaction is proof as in fact 90% of our orders are from returning customers”
Angie Larder, Senior Sales Manager

*Sustainable manufacturing is the creation of manufactured products through economically-sound processes. Minimising negative environmental impacts while conserving energy and natural resources.
*The Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) is the largest cotton sustainability programme in the world. Together with their partners they provide training on more sustainable farming practices to more than two million cotton farmers in 21 countries. In the 2017-18 cotton season, licensed BCI Farmers produced more than five million metric tonnes of ‘Better Cotton’ – that accounts for around 19% of global cotton production.
